Chadron State College recognizes outstanding students during Ivy Day

Sarah DeKay, of Chambers, Neb., was recognized for Peer Tutor, Royalty Attendant during Ivy Day at Chadron State College.

Chadron State College Ivy Day royalty, selected by a vote of the student body, were crowned during Ivy Day on Friday. In addition, the event also featured departmental awards and the presentation of the Platinum Eagle, awarded annually to one female and one male student who have exhibited outstanding campus involvement.

Daniel Regier of Imperial, Nebraska, was crowned Ivy Day King and Cheyenne Deering of Wasta, South Dakota, was crowned Ivy Day Queen.

Other Ivy Day Queen nominees were Kristine Bond of Lodgepole, Neb., Sarah DeKay of Chambers, Neb., Chelsea Owen of Valentine, Neb. and Erika Roybal of Denver, Colo. Other Ivy Day King nominees were Jacob Brunette of Pinedale, Wyo., Alex Coon of Bayard, Neb., Jake Murphy of Harrison, Neb. and David Vilmar Jr. of Abaco, Bahamas.

Jake Rissler of Gillette, Wyoming, and Justy Bullington of Chadron, Nebraska, were the Platinum Eagle recipients.

Other female Platinum Eagle nominees were Diane Baluska of Kimball, Neb., Deering, Kelsey Empfield of Scottsbluff, Neb. and Owen. Other male Platinum Eagle nominees were Brunette, Coon, Murphy, Channing Jons of Newcastle, Wyo. and Regier.
