Derek Phelps cast in 'Charlie Brown' at CSC

Derek Phelps of Sidney is among the cast members starring in the Chadron State College theatre program's upcoming production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."

Six students will play the parts of the timeless characters created by Charles Schulz in his comic strip, "Peanuts." The play will run Oct. 6-9 in the Memorial Hall auditorium. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Phelps, a freshman studying music education and theatre, is playing the role of Linus. This is his first production at CSC. He is the son of Jeff and Tina Phelps of Sidney and a 2011 graduate of Sidney High School.

Roger Mays, the play's director, said the story is perfect for children and their parents, and no less ideal for college students.
