Lane Swedberg crowned for Homecoming!

2015 Oct 14

For the first time in school history, Chadron State College's homecoming king will experience a two-year reign. Lane Swedberg of Wallace, Nebraska, and Jessica Orose of Piedmont, South Dakota, were crowned homecoming king and queen Wednesday evening during coronation at the Student Center.

Swedberg, who was also named the 2014 homecoming king, missed the coronation because he is involved in CSC's production of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." He is a senior studying math and science education and was nominated by the Student Alumni Council. He graduated from Wallace High School and is the son of Ralph and LaDonna Swedberg.

Orose is a senior studying criminal justice and was nominated by Residence Life Association. She is a graduate of Rapid City Central High School and the daughter of Tim and Karen Orose.

There was a three-way tie in the queen voting process, so the court has five attendants. The attendants to the queen are Miranda Oberschulte of Grand Island, Neb., Sara Marlatt of Gordon, Brianne Utley of Loveland, Colo., Katrina Hurley of Lincoln, and Sarah Townsend of Douglas, Wyo.

The runners-up in the competition for king are Robert Jackson III of Monroe, La., Broc Anderson of Alliance, Justin German of Imperial, and Taylor Osmotherly of Crawford.
