The Chadron State College Athletes of the Week are Chance Helmick and Mel Herl

Helmick, a freshman from Beatrice, Nebraska, went undefeated in four matches at the 165 pound weight class for the Eagles in the Midwest Duals. Helmick defeated his first opponent by tech. fall, 15-0, then continued with a 12-5 defeat, 6-1, and ended the day with a 13-4 major decision against Fort Hays State.

Herl, a junior from Eaton, Colorado, won the women's weight throw with a toss of 17.20 meters (56 feet 5 1/4 inches). Herl's toss was a personal record by almost two feet as well as the sixth best toss in school history. She also placed second in the women's shot put.
