The Chadron State College Athletes of the Week are Damarcus Simpson and Mel Herl

Simpson, a freshman from Lafayette, Georgia, scored 29 points for the Eagles at the RMAC conference meet while also running on a fifth place 400 meter relay. Simpson won the men's long jump with a leap of 24 foot, 10 inches, placed second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.46, was third in the triple jump while leaping 47-5 3/4 and placed fourth in the high jump with a career-best jump of 6-4 1/4 .

Herl, a junior from Eaton, Colorado, scored 24 individual points for CSC at the RMAC meet. Herl won the women's discus with a toss of 161 feet, threw the shot 46-3 1/2 to place second and was third in the hammer throw while throwing 170-3.
