Meet CSC Admissions Ambassador Jessi Gurule

Campus tour guide plans career in mental health services

Chadron, NE (02/14/2024) — Jessi Gurule of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, is a Chadron State College Admissions Ambassador who provides tours for prospective students and their families when they visit the CSC campus.

She has a double major in both criminal justice and psychology. Once she graduates from CSC, she plans to pursue a master's degree in psychology in Montana. Following that accomplishment, she hopes to be employed as a criminal psychologist or therapist. Eventually, she would like to earn a second master's degree in criminal justice.

"My experiences at CSC have helped me get the education I need to pursue my dream career," she said. "I envision that my education will empower me to delve into the motivations behind criminal behavior and understand why individuals commit unlawful acts," she said.

Courses at CSC that have made an impact on her include Criminology, Victimology, and Abnormal Psychology.

"Criminology and Victimology are very important when trying to understand the characteristics of criminals and victims. Abnormal psychology is also significant for being able to look at what individuals might be going through and the correct approach to help them get better," Gurule said.

Gurule attends CSC sports competitions and volunteers in The Big Event, a student-led community day of service each spring. She collected trash along the roadside and said the experience allowed her an opportunity to give back to the community.
