Meet CSC Ambassador Ella O'Brien

Chadron, NE (02/13/2024) — CHADRON - Chadron native Ella O'Brien is a Chadron State College Admissions Ambassador who leads tours for prospective students and their families.

She is a participant in the Rural Law Opportunities Program (RHOP).

"The purpose of the program is to have lawyers return to rural Nebraska because of the need. I want to return to a rural community in Nebraska and provide legal aid to these areas that are lacking it," O'Brien said.

O'Brien has been on the President's List with a 4.0 grade point average for five semesters and her goal is to attend the University of Nebraska-Law after she graduates in 2025.

O'Brien said many of her legal classes have made an impact on her.

"They are a broad study of specific practices of law and have helped me determine what kind of lawyer I want to be. These courses expose me to what each type of law practice will entail and help me decide what I like or dislike before law school. Many of the legal classes are very similar to law school and give us a taste of what law school will look like," she said.

In addition to her work in Admissions and her studies, O'Brien is a volunteer in CSC's annual The Big Event.

"It was always interesting to see college students volunteering around town when I was in grade school. Now, I get to be a part of it and give back to my hometown while participating in The Big Event," she said.
